The Sylhet Strikers restored their top spot in the points table as they beat the Chattogram Challengers by seven wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a 44-ball 60 alongside a whirlwind 16-ball 41 from Ryan Burl, helping the table toppers reach their target of 177-3 with two overs to spare, in reply to Chattogram's 174-6.
Musfiqur Rahim was also on 41 off 26 balls.
For Chattogram, skipper Shuvagata Hom made an undefeated 54 off 29 balls, while Mehedi Maruf finished with a 40-ball 52.
Imad Wasim took two wickets for Sylhet, while Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Mohammad Amir took one wicket each.
Sent to bat, Chattogram managed a challenging 174-6, riding on Mehedi Maruf’s 52, Afifi Hossain’s 34, and Shuvagata Hom’s unbeaten 54.
Paceman Mrittunjoy Chowdhury stood on a 12-ball 15 to boost Chattogram’s total.
Chasing down an exciting 175, Shanto, who picked up the third BPL total in this episode, set the tone.
Then, in the third wicket stand, Mushfq and Burl shared a whirlwind 22-ball, 48-run stand to seal Sylhet's seventh-wicket victory.
