After bagging three straight wins in the group phase that took Bangladesh U-19 to the Super Six as group-winners, the young tigresses failed to endure the streak as they suffered a six-wicket defeat against South Africa in their opening game of the second round at Potchefstroom on Saturday.
Choosing to bat first, Bangladesh managed a meager 106-6, with Sumaiya Akter scoring the top 24 off 28 balls.
In reply, South Africa reached the target, 108-5, with seven balls to spare after a 38-ball 37 from Madison Landsman alongside an unbeaten 32 runs off 30 balls from Karabo Meso.
The Junior Tigresses will take on UAE in their second and final Super Six match on January 25.
