The Bangladesh Cricket Board chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said on Wednesday that they are going to provide financial assistance for the former U-15 and U-17 player Sharif Islam, who is suffering from cancer.
'Meanwhile, we have communicated with the family of the player. Our honorable board president [Nazmul Hasan] also contacted him and his family and directed us to hand assistance. We will try as much as we can,’ said the BCB CEO on Wednesday.
The BCB settled on backing the ailing Sharif after his father submitted an application to the board’s president recently.
With the approaching three-match ODIs and similar number of T20Is against the host Bangladesh in mind, starting on March 1, a two member England representative team arrived in Chattogram on Tuesday.
The team inspected the existing facilities of the venue in the port city upon their arrival, and they also investigated the existing installations of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday, where the series will be encountered.
The BCB CEO relayed that this was all about a regular checkup ahead of a series with high profile teams like England and Australia.
‘You know that a pre-tour inspection takes place prior to a series against a side like England or Australia, and this one is also the same. They have observed the facilities that would be used by England while they stay.’
He further informed that the BCB has all but finalized the appointment of the head of the program, adding that they are also set to finalize the nomination of the other members of the coaching staff alongside the head coach.
