Sylhet make it five out of five

After Mohammad Harris struck a 32-ball 44 Thisara Perera and Akbar Ali shared a crucial 29-run stand in the sixth wicket that helped the Sylhet Strikers to seal their successive five wins after they secured a 5-wicket victory against the Dhaka Dominators in the Bangladesh premier League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, on Monday.

With Haris scoring 44 and 27 off 25 balls coming from Mushfiqur Rahim, followed by an unbeaten 11-ball 21 by Perera, Sylhet propelled to 134-5, with four balls to spare, in response to 128-7.

Imad Wasim was the standout bowler for Sylhet, scalping 3-20.

Nasir Hossain, who made a 31-ball 39, also claimed two wickets for Dhaka.

That means Dhaka have upheld their winless streak in the competition since their last win during the initial phase in Dhaka.

Batting first, Dhaka suffered a batting collapse as their top five batsmen fell for 74 in 13.6 overs.

However, in the fifth wicket stand, Ariful Haque and Nasir Hossain added a gusty 30-ball 50 to limit the initial devastation and also bolster their team total.

But the duo couldn’t uphold their momentum after the former fell to Mohammad Amir for 20, and the latter suffered a run-out, leaving Dhaka at a staggering 128-7 in the stipulated overs.

In reply, the table topper made an ideal start with their opening stand Haris and Najmul Hossain Shanto, who catapulted 52 without any loss before the latter was removed by Nasir for a sluggish 20-ball 12.

Jakir Hasan, who meanwhile showed his potential by hitting a stormy 18-ball 43 in their second encounter against the Fortune Barishal, was dismissed for a single by Arafat Sunny that limited the side to 61-2 in 8.6 overs.

Then Imad and Mushfiqur Rahim put on a crucial 32-run stand to put Sylhet on the verge of victory before Taskin Ahmed smashed the latter's stumps on 105-5.

The rest was done by Thisara and Akbar, who guided Sylhet to land on the harbor of victory in 19.2 overs.
