Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto struck a fifty each that powered the Sylhet Strikers to their successive fourth victory as the side registered a 62-run win against the Dhaka Dominators in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
Twohid's flurry of 46-ball 84, his third fifty in the competition, and Shanto's 57 off 39 balls helped Sylhet to a mammoth 201-8, the highest total in this version of the BPL.
In reply, Dhaka were all out for 139 in 19.3 overs, with Imad Wasim, Masrafe Bin Mortaza, and Mohammad Amir scalping two wickets each.
Nasir Hossain was the pick among the Dhaka batsmen, bagging a 35-ball 44, while Mohammad Mithun finished with 42 off 28 balls.
Al Amin Hossain was the standout bowler for the side, picking up 3-45.
Sent to bat, Sylhet lost their Pakistani opener Mohammad Haris on a run-a-ball six by Taskin Ahmed that shortened the side to 17-1 inside the second over.
Then, banking on Shanto and Twohid’s 57 and 84 runs, respectively, Sylhet posted a gigantic 201-8.
In reply, Dhaka made a frustrating start as they lost their top three batsmen for 30.
Mithun and Nasir, on the other hand, shared a crucial 47-ball 77-run stand in the fourth wicket to bolster and contain the initial devastation before being dismissed by Thisra Perera and Rejaur Rahman Raja.
Their efforts, however, were futile due to the collapse of their middle and lower middle order batters, forcing them to concede defeat.
