Comilla Victorians middle order batsman Jaker Ali lamented the defeat of his side against the Sylhet Strikers despite hitting his maiden fifty in the ongoing version of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
With Jaker remaining unbeaten on a 43-ball 57 and David Malan making 37, the defending champions managed a humble 149-6 that was comfortably chased down by Sylhet with 14 balls to spare.
‘Maiden fifty always makes you feel good therefore experiencing really well but would feel better if we could win. We actually play to win. I feel my fifty would be instrumental if we could win the tie,’ said Jaker in the post-match.
He further acknowledged that if he could have hit two more maximus, his side would have been in a better position.
‘We couldn’t score runs in the past two games. The same thing was repeated today. If I could have hit two more sixes, it would have made life easier for our next batters.
Meanwhile, Towhid, who also secured the player of the match crown in the previous tie, revealed that he is enjoying his batting.
‘Of course it is good for each cricketer. It is great that I have been named the man of the match back-to-back.
Towhid, who had a 37-ball 56 against the titlist, finished with a 34-ball 55, paving the way for his teammates to win their second consecutive competition.
