Azam Khan's unbeaten robust hundred was in vain after Chattogram Challengers opening batsman Usman Khan also hit another blistering ton and also shared a record 141-run stand with Maxwell Patrick in the opening stand that aided the side to seal a thrilling 26-run victory against Khulna Tigers in the ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
This was the highest partnership of any wicket in the ninth edition of the BPL.
Usman stood on 103 off 58 balls with the help of ten boundaries and five maximus, while Patrick finished with a 50-ball 58 to pull the side to 179-1, with four balls to spare, chasing down a challenging 178-5.
Earlier, Azam smacked a blistering 58-ball 109, hitting nine fours and eight maximums, the first ever hundred in the ninth version of BPL, as well as his maiden in white ball cricket, to bolster their team total.
Abu Jayed was the pick among the Chattogram bowlers, scalping 2-49.
Sent to bat, Khulna lost their two top order batsmen for 12.
