The Bangladesh Premier League governing council on Friday challenged Shakib Al Hasan to perform as the chief executive officer of the BPL to fix the existing issues of the country’s lone T20 franchise tournament to make it worthwhile and exciting.
On Wednesday, Bangladesh's ace all-rounder lashed out at the BPL governing council for their unwillingness to create a conducive market for the exciting competition, and he also stated unequivocally that if he were appointed as the CEO of BPL, he would solve all of the problems within a few months.
He [Shakib] may take over as CEO in the coming year. We are thanking him as he wants to act as a CEO,’ said BPL governing council chairman Sheikh Sohel in an official press conference in Mirpur.
‘Let him come as a CEO in the approaching year and work with us. In fact, we are hailing him right now. You will consider him a player because he is making his appearance in cricket. Let him join us leaving cricket behind.’
Shakib's attention was drawn to a program on that day due to the multiple failures in BPL by its governing council, which was held by Gulf Oil, who had already named him as their brand ambassador and appointed the southpaw as CEO for the day.
Earlier, the BPL governing council underwent an awful denunciation for failing to provide the Decision Review System, the BPL auction, and the player registration process, alongside the various failures of the respective franchises in this edition.
The ninth edition of BPL began on Friday and will continue until February 16.
