Khulna Tigers head coach and Bangladesh former skipper Khaled Mahmud urged the Bangladesh Premier League franchise owners to be more functional to make the country’s lone T20 franchise competition significant.
Over the years it has been noticed that the franchise owners who have been involved with BPL couldn’t make any fan base across the nation since its inception back in 2012.
Regrettably, they even could not make a signatory jersey, cap, or any other kit until today for their respective fans, which made BPL insignificant.
‘It looks awkward. Therefore, the franchises should be a bit more functional. It should be their tactic as they know that they are featuring in the tournaments,’ said Khaled Mahmud on Tuesday in Mirpur.
He further confirmed that Bangladesh's ODI skipper, who is set to lead Khulna in this version of BPL, has recovered from his injury and is fit to play in BPL.
Tamim, who suffered a groin injury prior to the recently concluded series against the touring India, was spotted attending training sessions on Monday.
‘Tamim recovered very well. He visited Bangkok with Champaaka [ Champaka Ramanayake].He further suffered one more injury. He batted well in nets in the last two days. He is fit and ready to go.’
The 51-year-old director of the Bangladesh national team also vowed to seal the title for Khulna.
‘We are aiming to earn a championship in BPL. Therefore I am here.’
