Bangladesh batting all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has vowed to end his title drought in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, where he will compete for the outfits of fortune in Barisal.
The upcoming version of BPL is going to begin on January 5 and will continue up to February 16 in Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chattogram.
Miraz, who played in every BPL season after his international debut, failed to win a single title for any team.
However, this time he expressed a strong desire to end his dry spell.
‘I never ever sealed a championship title, but I believe that might happen this season. I always try to play for my side to earn wins for them,’ said Miraz on Monday in Mirpur.
‘The 25-year-old is enjoying his rare spell of success as he earned his maiden hundred in the ODIs, and shared a crucial 51-run stand in the tenth wicket with Mustafizur Rahman that powered them to seal the two match series by 2-1 against the touring India, concluded in the last week.
Recently a murmur taking place in the country's cricket fraternity that the Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to re-appoint former head coach Chandika Hathurusingha as the replacement for the outgoing Russell Domingom, under whose reign Miraz made his international debut.
But the right-hander made it clear that whoever their head coach is, there is no alternative but to perform to secure a permanent spot in the national fold.
'This is solely a team management affair, regardless of who is coming or not [as head coach]. Since I made my debut under his [Hathurusingha] tutelage...I need to perform at the end of the day otherwise I wouldn’t be able to feature for my side.’
