Bangladesh ace all-rounder and also the Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan passionately believes that the approaching 2023 would be the best ever year in the history of Bangladesh cricket as they are determined to bring some rare success across the formats in this year.
‘To me, 2023 would be one of the best year in the history of our cricket," said Shakib on Friday at the Bangladesh Sports Press Association’s 60th founding anniversary.
According to the last Future Tour Plan [FTP] revealed by the International Cricket Council in August of the outgoing year, Bangladesh are scheduled to feature in 32 bilateral games in this year, apart from the marquee tournaments.
They will start the New Year, hosting the touring England, who will encounter them in the three one-day internationals alongside the similar number of T20Is starting on March 1.
After the conclusion of the series, they would entertain the visiting Ireland at their den in April, followed by an away series against the same side in May and in June against Afghanistan.
Subsequently finishing with the Irish and Afghans, the Tigers would encounter New Zealand in September and November, both at home and away, respectively.
The southpaw further vowed that they would be able to leave up to par shows not only in one version but also in other two formats of cricket.
‘I do believe in heart and soul, not only in one format but also in all three formats.’
In the departing year Bangladesh who played in ten Tests could secure only one victory alongside a draw.
Although they could seal four series out of five in their favorite ODIs, however, in the T20Is they finished with only six wins from sixteen ties.
