India bowlers struck early on the third day as Bangladesh lost their top order quartet in the second and final Test against the visitors that trailing them by 16 runs in the second innings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
With Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj, Jaydev Unadkat and Axar Patel picking up one wicket each, the home side was shortened to 71-4 at lunch.
Zakir Hasan and Liton Das stood on 37 and a naught respectively.
The hosts made 227 in their first inning while the visitors were bowled out on 314 that handed them a 87-run lead in the first innings.
Bangladesh resumed their innings on 7-0 with their overnight batsmen Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan who remained unbeaten on 5 and 2 runs respectively.
However, the pair could add six runs more before Shanto was trapped leg before for 5 Ashiwn.
In the second wicket stand Mominul Haque who struck 84 in his comeback tie after a six-month hiatus fell for 5 by Siraj.
Then Shakib Al Hasan added 25 runs in the next stand with his partner Zakir prior to his dismissal for 13 by Unadkat followed by Mushfiqur Rahim for 9 by Axar to leave the hosts to a reeling total at the day’s initial break.
