Natthakan Chantham starred as Thailand outclassed Pakistan securing a four-wicket win over the mighty side in the ongoing edition of the Women’s Asia Cup at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
The 26-year-old hit a 51-ball 61 with the help of five boundaries to pull her side to 117-6 with one ball to spare in reply to 116-5, their first victory in the contention.
For the Thai women, Sornarrin Tippoch scalped 2 while Thipatcha Putthawong ended with one wicket.
For Pakistan, opener Sidra Amin made 56 off 64 balls while other batters failed to go beyond 15.
With the ball, Nida Dar, Tuba Hassan claied two each and Nashra Sandhu, Kainat Imtiaz took one wicket each.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan lost their opener Muneeba Ali for 15 after she formed a 25-run partnership with Sidra Amin.
In the next stand, skipper Bismah Maroof and the Sidra added 18-runs before the former was removed for just 3 trapping run-out.
However, Sidra continued single-handedly with her steady willow, adding 41, 11 and 15 with Nida Dar, Ayesha Naseem and Aliya Riaz respectively before her exit for 56, her fourth fifty in T20I.
However, a tiny sixth wicket stand from Aliya and Omaima Sohali powered Pakistan to 116-5 in the stipulated over.
Pursing a sorry 117, Thai women made an idle start, forming 40 in the opening stand prior to the fall of Nannapat Koncharoenki for 13.
However, Natthakan went big guns lone-handedly until she confirmed the victory for her side and eventually she made it in 19.5 overs.
