Bangladesh all-out for 227 in first innings

Bangladesh suffered yet another batting collapse as they were all-out for 227-runs in their first innings before the stumps of the opening-day of the second and final Test against India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.   

Ravichandran Ashwin and Yumesh Yadav were the standout bowlers for the visitors who picked up four wickets each to crush the hosts in 73.3 overs.

Mominul Haque who made his return to the playing XI following a six-month pause made the highest 84-run while other batsmen failed to go beyond 30.

Batting first, the home side lost their opener duo  Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasam for 24 and 15-run respectively before lunch.

Soon after the day’s initial break skipper Shakib Al Hasan was removed for 16 by Umesh.

However, in the next stand Mominul and Mushfiqur Rahim added a solid 48-run stand to stitch the innings, before the latter was dismissed for 26 by Unadkat followed by Liton Das for a 26-ball 25 by Ashwin.

Later, Umesh claimed Mehidy Miraz, Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed for 15, 6, 1 to complete his sixth four-wicket haul. 

Mominul and Syed Khaled Ahmed fell to Ashwin on 84 and a naught respectively.
