Bangladesh ace all-rounder and T20 skipper Shakib Al Hasan will join the team in Christchurch on Thursday [06 October] afternoon as his arrival was delayed by two days on the back of technicalities related to transit visa.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday revealed the issue through a press release.
According to them, Shakib had a confirmed ticket and was due to arrive in New Zealand via Tahiti on October 4 but could not board the flight from Los Angeles International Airport on October 2 after complications with the visa procedure arose.
However, the designated airlines resolved the issue and rebooked him on the next available flight leaving from LA on October 4 which he had taken to reach New Zealand.
Upon their arrival, the Bangladesh team had already undergone two-day training sessions in Christchurch ahead of the tri-nation series starting on Friday but Shakib couldn’t join his fellow teammates over there.
The champion cricketer who has just ended his Caribbean Premier League campaign for Guyana Amazon Warriors also missed the trophy unveiling of the tri-nation where his vice, Nurul Hasan attended the programme instead.
