‘A substantial total in first innings can rescue Tigers’

Bangladesh need to leave a gleaming batting show in the first innings to turn the tables against India when they encounter the side in the second and final Test starts at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on December 22.

The touring India is leading the two-match Test series by 1-0 against the hosts after they secured a thrashing 188-run win in the first game in Chattogram, which are the part of the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.

Bangladesh suffered a batting collapse in their first innings that led them to all-out for a sorry 150-run in the series opener.

Conversely, the touring side, who posted a sizeable 404 in their first innings, followed by 258-2 d that handed them a record 513-run target, where the home side could manage a moderate 324-run before they were bundled out.

‘Our prime concern is the first innings. Whatever it is, bowl or bat first in any Test match if any side goes back foot it becomes tough to do well,’ opined Bangladesh’s eminent coach and also the advisor to the cricket at BKSP Nazmul Abedin Fahim.

He feels that all it happened on the back of the Tigers’ long hiatus in the longest format of cricket that disconnected their focus on the red-ball cricket as they played their last seven month earlier against their Sri Lanka counterpart at their den.

‘It’s a great opportunity for us to prove as a good side in Tests. In the first innings of Chattogram, a true Test temperament in Tests disappeared among our batsmen.’

‘We noticed a long pause in the Test that appeared as an obstruction to focus in the red-ball cricket as the Bangladesh national team played their last in May of this year,’ he said.

‘It is always onerous when you shift into Test cricket after a long hiatus from the ODIs or T20Is,’he added.

The match will start at 9:30 a.m and GTV, T Sports will go live the game.
