Bangladesh sustained an awful batting collapse in the last session of the second day play that trailed them by 217 runs in the first of the two-match Test series against India at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Thursday.
With Kuldeep Yadav and Mohamemd Siraj picking up four and three wickets respectively the home side was reduced to 133-8 at stumps.
Now they required 71 runs to avoid follow on.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain stood on 16 and 13 runs respectively.
The visitors managed an inspiring 404 in their first innings before they were bundled out prior to the Tea of the day with Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picking up four wickets each.
Commencing their first innings batting the hosts made a frustrating start as they lost their top order duo Najmul Hossain Shanto and Yasir Ali for a duck and 4 by Siraj and Umesh respectively.
Debutant Zakir Hasan alongside his senior teammate Liton Das shared a 34-run stand in the third wicket stand to curb the early wreck however they failed to make it large after the latter was excluded for 24 by Siraj followed by the former on 20 by the same bowler.
In the fourth wicket two Bangladesh senior campaigners Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim strived to make a long go but their attempts were in vain after the former gave a catch to Virat Kohli on 3 by Kuldeep, leaving the side to a staggering 75-5.
Kulddep then claimed Nurul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam for 16, 28 and a naught respectively to lessen the home side to 102-8.

Puajara hit a 203-ball 90 while Iyer and Ashiwn finished with a 192-ball 86 and 113-ball 58 respectively to pull the hosts to an inspiring total.
Taijul and Miraz were the standout bowlers for the home side scalping 4 wickets each.
Touring India resumed the innings on 278-6 with their overnight batsman Iyer remaining unbeaten on 82.
However the middle order couldn’t expand his innings as he was dismissed by Ebadot Hossain in the early morning of the day, after he survived a dolly from Liton Das on 86, his third catch drop as he also survived two more catch drops on the day one on 37 and 77.
Later, Ashwin and Kuldeep shared a 200-ball 87run stand in the eighth wicket stand to take the visitors to a substantial total.
Kuldeep fell on 40 by Taijul Islam to complete his ninth four wicket haul.
