Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan is absolutely fine so there is no worry about his appearance in the opener of the two-match series against India at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Wednesday.
Seeking anonymity, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official confirmed on Tuesday that although the champion cricketer was sent to a nearby hospital this morning, skipping his training ahead of the first match, he is quite okay now.
‘Shakib is absolutely fine. He is going to feature in the first Test,’ he said.
It was learned that the southpaw, who was attending his training session at ZACS this morning, was abruptly sent to the hospital after he started feeling discomfort in his ribs that he suffered during the second one-day international against the visitors at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
However, eventually he overcame the complications and is now fit to play.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo denied playing Taskin Ahmed in the first Test due to his chronic back pain, which required him to give pain-removing injections.
