Bangladesh stand-in captain Liton Das believes that if they could restrict India to 330-340 runs the fate of the game would have been different as they suffered a thrashing 227-run loss against the visitors in the third and final ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Saturday.
With Ishan Kishan slamming a 131-ball 210, the fastest double hundred in the ODIs, along with a whirlwind 91-ball 113 from Virat Kohli the tourists managed a mammoth 409-8, their highest total against Bangladesh.
In reply, the hosts were all-out for 182 in 34 overs, that helped India to avoid a clean sweep alongside reducing the three-match ODI series difference by 2-1.
‘We tried our best, but we didn't find any solution. If the score would have been 330-340, it would have been a different ball game,’ said Liton after the game.
Following the exclusion of Shikhar Dhawan for 3, Ishan shared a monumental 290-run stand, in the second wicket stand with his partner Virat Kohli, who finished with a 91-ball 113 to bolster the tourists' total.
Therefore, Bangladesh skipper lauded the duo thanks to their towering batting display that eventually handed them a crushing defeat in the series finale.
‘Ishan and Virat batted really well. Hats off to Ishan. They are a good side, and we played good cricket for two games.’
Meanwhile, Ishan admitted that he was just watching the ball properly that guided him to land his milestone flawlessly.
‘It was a perfect wicket and situation to bat on. I was just looking to watch the ball properly, and go with the flow. At this level, whenever you get the chance, you need to make the most out of it. I was just picking the ball and the bowlers, and things were going my way! Our trainer and physio are taking care of everyone.’
