Ishan Kishan smacked the fastest double hundred while Virat Kohli finished with a gusty hundred to power India to their fourth-highest total of 409-8 in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, on Saturday.
Ishan made a blistering 210 off just 131 balls while Kohli hit a 91-ball 113 and also shared a record 290-run stand in the second stand which is the fourth highest in this format until today.
The 24-year-old, who was replaced as Rohit Sharma on the back of the latter’s thumb strain during the second ODI, hit his maiden hundred from 85 balls.
Aftermath, he went big guns that aided him to script an unprecedented history of the fastest double in the one-day international off just 126 balls, with the help of 23 boundaries alongside nine Maximus to surpass Chris Gayle who earlier grasped the record from 138 balls.
However, the right hander was eventually finished with a robust 133-ball 210 before he fell to Taskin Ahmed.
After securing the feat, the young opener joined the double hundred's club with the former India duo of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, along with his running teammate Rohit Sharma.
Now he is the third Indian batsman who scored a highest for the side after Rihit and Sehwag’s 264 and 219, respectively.
In the process, Ishan also exceeded Shane Watson’s highest score of 185 in the home soil of Bangladesh back in 2011 ICC World Cup.
Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged one.
