Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed is unlikely to play in the remaining two one-day internationals against India, according to Bangladesh national team head coach Russell Domingo.
Prior to the ongoing three match one-day internationals the Bangladesh Cricket Board notified that the right-handed fast bowler had been ruled out from the first game due to his recurrent back pain.
However, the South African coach revealed on Tuesday, ahead of the second match against the touring side in Mirpur, that they are unwilling to take any risks with the Tigers' key pacer because they have an abundance of significant series ahead of them.
‘Taskin had an injection about three or four days ago. He did a bit of gym yesterday and had a bit of a bowl today for five six overs. I’m not sure we want to risk playing him yet. So, I don’t think we want to risk playing him yet, but he is on his way to recovery,’ he said.
‘There are a lot of cricket to be played, there are a few Test matches and also have opportunity to keep developing the other fast bowlers. So, I don’t think we want to risk playing him yet but he is on his way to recovery,’ he added.
