Bangladesh suffered a huge blow ahead of the ODIs against the touring India as their skipper Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the series after he suffered a groin injury during the warm-up match on November 30.
Bangladesh national team chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Thursday that the veteran batsman is also uncertain in the Test series against the visitors.
‘Yes, Tamim wouldn’t be able to feature in the ODIs after he suffered a groin injury during the warm-up match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. He is also uncertain in the Test series as well.’
Meanwhile Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed also has been ruled out of the first ODI against India as his back pain has recurred.
Minhajul said that that left arm-pacer Shoriful Islam has been called in place of Taskin.
The first two ODIs of the series are scheduled on December 4 and 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium followed by the third tie at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
However, the opener of the two Tests also would be played at the ZACS from December 14 to 18 followed by the series concluder at the SBNCS from December 22 to 26.
The Tests matches are part of the ICC World Test Championship.
