Fazle Mahmud scored a fifty to power BCB North Zone to clinch the tenth Bangladesh Cricket League one-day title as they handed a 3-run defeat to BCB South Zone in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Mahmud made 65 off 114 balls while Akbar Ali, Mahmudullah and Shamim Hossain finished with 44 off 41, 39 off 53 and 37 off 20 balls, respectively, to manage 244-8.
In reply, South Zone were restricted to 241-9, with Nasir Hossain making 61 off 88 balls alongside a 48-ball 59 from Anamul Haque.
Sent to bat, BCB North lost their top three batsmen for 45 runs.
In the aftermath, riding on Fazle Mahmud’s 65, Akbar Ali’s 44, they posted a humble 244.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed two wickets while Shoriful Islam and Nasum Ahmed took one each.
Chasing a modest 245, table-topper BCB South could reach 241-9 with 10 runs in the final over.
Bangladesh U-19 World Cup campaigner Ripon Mondol was the pick among the bowlers, scalping 3-30.
