BCB South and North Zone reached the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League as they secured a six and five-wicket win over Islami Bank East Zone and BCB Central Zone at BKSP Ground-3 and 4 respectively on Thursday.
Although Central Zone middle-order batsman Mohammad Mithun hit a hundred but it was in vain after Shahadat Hossain Dipu struck another ton that powered BCB North to a 5-wicket win over Central Zone in the third tie.
Riding on Mithun’s unbeaten 114-ball 121, Central Zone managed a humble 228-8 at BKSP Ground-3.
In reply, with Dipu and Mahmudullah making 101 and 96 respectively BCB North reached the target posting 229-5 in 47 overs.
Sent to bat, Central Zone made a wobbling start as they lost their top five batters for 72.
However, Mithun carried on single-handedly adding 68 in the sixth wicket-stand to surpass the two hundred run threshold.
Mohammd Saifuddin, Shafiqul Islam and Shykat Ali picked up two wickets each.
Pursuing a moderate 229 North Zone sealed their second win banking on Dipu’s hundred and Mahmudullah’s quick-fire 96 off 98 balls.
Bangladesh U-19 team campaigner Mushfiq Hasan was the pick among the Central Zone bowlers scalping 2-54.
In the day’s other game, being sent to bat Islami Bank amassed 170 riding on Mushfiqur Rahim’s 68 before they were all-out for a paltry 170.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi was the top among the bowlers claiming 4-37.
In reply, table topper South Zone reached the shore of the victory compensating just four wicket with Naim Sheikh making a 93-ball 82.
The title decider of the tournament will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on November 27 at 12:30 pm.
