Bangladesh's women's team failed to maintain their momentum in the ongoing Asia Cup, suffering a thrashing nine-wicket defeat in their second game against Pakistan at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
With scalpings of two and one wicket each from Diana Baig, Nida Dar, Sadia Iqbal, and Omaima Sohail, the hosts could amass 70-8 in the stipulated over, that was comfortably chased down by Pakistan, compensating just one wicket to pull the side to 72-1 with 46 balls to spare.
Sidra Ameen scored a highest unbeaten 35 ball 36.
And for Bangladesh, Salma Khatun scored a top score of 29 off 24 balls while the other batters failed to reach the threshold of 20.
Sent to bat, the defending Asia Cup champions made a frustrating start as they lost their top three batters for only three inside the power play.
In the fourth and fifth wicket stand Lata Mondal- Nigar Sultana, Salma Khatun-Nigar formed a 24 and 15 run partnership respectively however, that was not sufficient to score a challenging total on the board.
Pursuing a tiny 71, Pakistan's opening pair, Muneeba Ali and Sidra Ameen, made a solid start, taking the side to 49 off 45 before the former was caught behind the stumps by Salma Khatun for 14.
That was the end of the misery for the side, as in the next stand, Sidra stood alongside her partner, also the skipper Biamah Maroff added 23 runs to take the side to the harbor of victory in 12.2 overs.
Bismah stood on 12 off 20 balls.
Bangladesh will take on Malaysia on Thursday in their third tie at 1:30 pm at the same venue.
