Yasir Ali Chowdhury hit a commanding 80 to lead Islami Bank East Zone to a 114-run victory over defending champions Central Zone on the first day of the tenth Bangladesh Cricket League at the BKSP's Ground-3 today.

Sent to bat, East Zone lost their opening pair Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Imrul Kayes early.

Pacer Robiul Haque, who finished with 2-27, then dismissed Bangladesh one-day skipper Tamim Iqbal to leave East Zone at a staggering 46-3.

Following his exclusion, Mushfiqur Rahim and Afif Hossain formed a 54-run stand before the latter was removed for 27.

Mushfiqur was cut for a 77-ball 44; however, riding on Yasir's 73-ball 80 East Zone, he managed 254.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam crushed the lower order, scalping four wickets.

In reply, Mahedi Hasan accounted for the wickets of Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, and Mominul Haque before Ebadot Hossain rampaged with a four-fer to bundle Central Zone out for 140. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a team-high 38.
