The BCB's long-awaited Regional Cricket Association has been approved by the National Sports Council, according to a board official who requested anonymity.
He told his reporter that, while BCB received approval, NSC will still work with the board to put the necessary structure in place on which RCA will act.
Earlier on July 20, BCB approved the much-delayed Regional Cricket Association, aiming to decentralise the game in the country by amending its constitution during an Annual General Meeting.
According to the BCB constitution, that defines Regional Cricket Association as a body to run the country’s cricket in various administrative divisions. It also states that the BCB should make sure to run their cricket across the country through the regional and District Cricket Association.
While the DSAs are formed and run by the government in all 64 districts of the country, the regional cricket bodies haven't seen the light of day despite being in the works for nearly two decades and being included in the board's constitution since 2012.
BCB President Nazmul Hasan had the RCA as his mandate since he first became BCB president in 2013.
