Rangpur Division are just 88-run away from clinching their second title as they crushed Sylhet Division for 168-runs in the second innings on the second day of the final round of the National Cricket League on Tuesday.
Sylhet were bowled out for 107 in their first innings while Ragpur managed 188 that trailing them by 87-runs at day-2 stumps at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura.
Rangpur resumed their innings on 105-3 with their overnight batsmen Nasir Hossain and Mim Mosaddek on 27 and 26 respectively.
However, the latter was excluded for 38 by Rejaur Rahman Raja before the former gave a catch behind the stumps for 41 by Ebadot Hossain.
Following their dismissal the next batsmen kept losing their wickets at regular intervals that handed them a 81-run lead.
Ebadot was the pick among the bowlers scalping 5-38 while Raja ended with 4-37.
In reply, riding on Taufiq Khan Tushar’s 36 off 55 balls Sylhet were bundled out for 168.
Adullah Al Mamun was the top among the bowlers claiming 4 wickets.
In the other game Barishal Division is trailing Dhaka Metropolis by 92-runs.
Banking on Rakibul Hasan and Kazi Anik Islam’s 63 each Dhaka managed 222 in reply of Barishal’s 211.
Salman Hossain claimed 5-44.
In response Barishal made 103-2 after a 39 from Iftakhar Hossain Ifti.
At the BKSP Ground-3, Chattogram are leading by 192-runs against Dhaka Division.
Dhaka who resumed their innings on 53-3, were all-out for 198 with Yesin Arafat Meshu running rampant with the ball, in response to Barishal’s 203 in first innings.
The right hander finished with 6-71.
However, Brasishal reached 187-3 at stumps riding on Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Parvez Hossain Emon’s 73, 54 respectively.
In the day’s other game Rajshahi Division need another 10-run to avoid follow -on against Khulna Division.
Khulna who made 266 forced Rajshahi to bat after they were deposed to 55 in 26.5 overs at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Khulna.
Soumya Sarkar was the top among the bowlers claiming 4-5.
However Rajshahi could post 202-5 after Tanzid Hasan Tamim stood on 108 at stumps.
