Bangladesh national team head coach Russell Domingo arrived Dhaka on Monday to join the Tigers for the upcoming home series against India starting on December 4.
The South African coach landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:30 am.
Taking the Bangladesh national team's ceaseless lackluster performance in T20Is that began with the last edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in Oman and the United Arab Emirates in 2021, the BCB fired Domingo from the role of head coach ahead of the Asia Cup, which was held in the UAE in August-September.
Following his removal, the Tiger administration appointed Indian coach Sridharan Sriram as technical consultant for this format until the current World Cup and gave him command of the ODI and Test teams.
Domingo was expected to join the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in the UAE in October during their visit for their series against Afghanistan. However, because the series was canceled due to internal issues at the Afghanistan Cricket Board, he did not see the need to travel to the UAE.
Although Bangladesh ‘A’ team are now visiting Tamil Nadu for taking part in the two four-day and three one-days he didn’t join the side.
Bangladesh is scheduled to encounter their home series against India with the three match one-day internationals on December 4, 7 and 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The two Tests of the series which are the part of the ICC World Test Championship will be played from December 14 to 18 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram followed by the second and final tie at the SBNCS from December 22 to 26.
