Following the termination of the contract with Progoti Green Auto Rice Mills Limited the Bangladesh Cricket Board is chasing after a new franchise owner for Dhaka for the approaching edition of the Bangladesh Premier League.
Earlier the BPL governing council named Progoti as the owner of Dhaka for the forthcoming version of the country’s lone T20 competition however now they are looking for a new owner after Progoti failed to meet their requirements.
‘We have certain compliances that the franchises need to meet their certain requirements to be part of BPL however they couldn’t. Therefore we have terminated the contract with them,’ told a BCB official seeking anonymity.
It was further learnt that Progoti failed to pay the defined payment according to the agreement.
As per the agreement, franchises have to pay TK 13 crore in the first year.
The BCB demanded TK 4.5 crore as three years of participating fees alongside TK 8.5 crore as one-year payment for players and other related expenses that they [Progoti] couldn’t pay dully.
The ninth edition of BPL is scheduled to be held from January 5to February 16, next year.
