After much speculation in the country's cricket community, Bangladesh national team head coach Russell Domingo is set to join the Tigers in the coming week ahead of the upcoming series against India, which begins on December 4.
Seeking anonymity, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official confirmed on Tuesday that the South African coach will arrive in Dhaka on November 14, while the other members of the coaching staff are expected to arrive on the 20th of the month ahead of the high voltage series.
‘Russell Domingo will come on November 14 ahead of the series, and the remaining members of the support staff are expected to join us on November 20,’ said the official.
Taking the Bangladesh national team's never-ending lackluster performance in T20Is, which began with the last edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in Oman and the United Arab Emirates in 2021, the BCB fired their head coach Russell Doming ahead of the Asia Cup, which was held in the UAE in August-September.
After dismissing him, the Tiger administration appointed Indian coach Sridharan Sriram as technical consultant for this format until the current World Cup and gave him command of the ODI and Test teams.
Domingo was expected to join the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in the UAE in October during their visit for their series against Afghanistan. However, because the series was canceled due to internal issues at the Afghanistan Cricket Board, he did not see the need to travel to the UAE.
Although Bangladesh ‘A’ team are now visiting Tamil Nadu for taking part in the two four-day and three one-days he didn’t join the side.
