Ireland Women's team whitewashed Bangladesh in three-match T20 International series after Laura Delany held her nerve under immense pressure to help the side secure a four-wicket victory in the third and final T20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
Delany hammered 31 ball-36 not out as Ireland knocked off Bangladesh's 123-7 with just one ball to spare despite facing a hiccup following a solid start. With the side needing four runs in the last two balls, she hit Shorna Akter a boundary to confirm the victory.
Ireland won the first two matches by 12 runs and 47 runs respectively.
Opener Amy Hunter made 28 while captain Gabi Lewis added 21. They shared 55 runs in the opening stand to raise a prospect of facile victory but Bangladesh bowlers made it tough by taking wicket at regular intervals.
Delany finally stood tall amid the adversities to help the side secure the victory.
Put into bat first, Bangladesh lost Murshida Khatun (12) cheaply but got going well, thanks to Sobhana Mostary and inform Sharmin Akhter Supta. The duo shared 71 runs for the second wicket before Supta was out for 34.
When Sobhana Mostary was out for team-best 45, Bangladesh were 107-3 in 15.2 overs over. From then on, they were able to add just 16 runs for four wickets.Orla Prendergast was the wrecker-in-chief with 4-22 from four overs while Amiee Maguire took 2-25.
Bangladesh earlier swept three-match ODI series.
