Mushfiqur ruled out of final two ODIs against Afghanistan

Veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim was ruled out of the two remaining matches against Afghanistan after sustaining a finger injury in Wednesday's first match.

"Towards the end of Afghanistan's batting innings, Mushfiqur injured the tip of his left Index finger while keeping wickets," team physio Delowar Hossain said.

"An X-ray after the match has confirmed a fracture on his left Index near the DIP joint. He is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs. Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course"

The gloveman sustained the injury while keeping the wickets in the 49th over during the first ODI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh conceded a 92-run defeat in that match after losing last seven wickets for just 11 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored just 1 off 3 balls before being baffled by a carom delivery of Afghanistan teenage offspinner Mohammad Ghazanfar who ripped through Bangladesh batting line up with 6-26.

What raised a question was as to why Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat at No. 7 when he usually bats at No. 5 or 6.

Later it was known that after suffering the injury he took a primary treatment to heal the pain so that he can bat at least in this match.

This was the first time since 2015 World Cup that Mushfiqur Rahim came to bat at No.7 position.

The second and third matches are on November 9 and 11.
