Shakib rues India hard-luck

Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan lamented their relentless failure in the final moment against India that freshly handed them a 5-run defeat [D/L] method against the side in the Super 12 of the ICC T20 World Cup in Adelaide on Wednesday.

With Bangladesh needing 20 from the last over, after a revised target of 151 from 16 overs, they could take the side to 145-6 after a gusty unbeaten 60 off 27 from Liton Das alongside an unbeaten 14-ball 25 from Nurul Hasan.

‘It's been the story when we play against India, we are almost there but we don't finish the line,’ said Shakib in the post-match presentation.

It seems that the last moment mischance appeared as a common phenomenon for the Tigers against India that started from the 2016 edition of the T20 World Cup where they suffered a one run loss against the side.

Again, in the Nidhas trophy, held in 2018 where Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India pulled off 9 runs in the last three balls with Dinesh Kartik hitting a maximum in the last ball thriller.

However Bangladesh skipper admitted that although they lost the tie in the marquee tournament but against the side, enjoyed it wholly.

‘Both teams enjoyed it, it was a great game and that's what we wanted. At the end someone has to win and someone has to lose.’

The Southpaw further praised his fellow colleague Liton Das thanks to his robust fifty that guided them to hand India a potential blow.

‘He's [Litton Das] our best batter going around. The way he batted in the powerplay gave us a lot of momentum and gave us the belief that we could chase this with the short boundaries here.’

‘If you look at India's top four, they are very dangerous. Our plan was to get those 4 and that's why we bowled Taskin through. Unfortunately he did not pick wickets but he was very economical.

‘Not much, we have been very relaxed and not talking too much about cricket in this World Cup. We have one more match to go and we want to concentrate on that,’ he concluded.
