Bangladesh suffer defeat handing India a massive blow

Liton Das smashed a robust fifty to hand India a potential blow however his fellow team mates failed to endure it as Bangladesh suffered a 5-run (D/L Method) defeat in a rain hit Super 12 of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Liton who secured a 21-ball 50 finished with 60 off 27 hitting seven fours and three maximums, his maiden fifty in the T20I at the Adelaide on Wednesday.

Aside from him Nurul Hasan hit an undefeated 13-ball 24 while a 25-ball 21 came from Najmul Hossain Shanto to take Bangladesh to 145-6 after a revised target of 151 from 16 overs.

Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandiya scalped two wicket each and Mohammad Shami claimed one wicket.

Earlier with Virat Kohli and Likesh Rahul struck an unbeaten 63 off 43 and a 32-ball 50 respectively to post a daunting 184-6 in the stipulated over.

Hasan Mahmud scalped 3 and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets.

Sent to bat, India made a cautious start as they posted only 37-1 inside the power play.

Taskin Ahmed who wentwicket but gave away only 15 runs in his quota of four overs had a great opportunity to remove Rohit Sharma in his second over.

However he failed as Hasan Mahmud dropped a dolly from backward square leg for 2.

However, Taskin could redeem himself, scalping the opener in the next over at backward point impelling him to give a catch to Yasir Ali for 2 to reduce the side to 11-1.

In the next stand, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul added 77-run to conquer the early loss before the latter gave a catch at the short fine leg to Mustafizur Rahman for 50, by Shakib Al Hasan.

However, Kohli carried on alone, forming 38, 14 in the next two stands with Surya Kumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya respectively before the duo were dismissed by Shakib and Mahmud for 30 off 16 and 5.
