ICC axe umpires from semi involves controversial decision in BD match

The International Cricket Council has removed the umpires involved in a disputed decision between Bangladesh Pakistan from the semi-finals of the ongoing  version of T20 World Cup commencing on November 9 Sydney Cricket Ground.

On-field umpires Adrian Holdstock, Joel Wilson alongside the TV umpire Langton Rusere have been axed from officiating the last-fours of the showpiece tournament after they proved giving a arguable dismissal of Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan that knocked them out from the global event.

The incident took place in the 11th over of Bangladesh’s innings with Shakib going down the wicket and trying to flick his Shadab Khan’s delivery subsequently the dismissal of Soumya Srakar in the early ball.

However, the ball struck Shakib’s leg even as he came down more than three metres. The umpire, after a long look, raised his finger, but Shakib immediately took a review.

The delivery of Shadab Khan was straight to the stumps and hit the pads of Shakib as well, but not before touching his bat, as the TV replays suggested.

In the first semi encounter between New Zealand and Pakistan at Sydney Cricket Ground, Marais Erasmus and Richard Ilingworth would be officiating as field umpires while Richard Kettleborough, Michael Gough have been assigned as third and fourth umpire and Chris Board would be acting as match referee..

And in the second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval with India taking on England, Kumer Dharmasena and Paul Reiffel would be officiating as on-field umpires while Chris Gaffaney alongside Rod Tucker would run the game as third and fourth umpire respectively  and David would be playing the role as match referee.
